With over 10 years experience within the Royal Government and a PhD in Philosophy from the School of Biological Sciences (Monash University, Australia), Say Samal became Minister of Environment in 2013.
Prior to this, Dr Say Samal held various responsibilities with the Royal Government, such as Permanent Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Tonle Sap Authority, Member of the Cambodian National Mekong Committee, and then Deputy Secretary General of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
He has been leading the environmental agenda in Cambodia since then. Under this leadership more than 7million ha of forests were put under protection and the solid waste and pollution management has been made priority under his Government.
