Pierre van Rensburg is the Strategic Executive for Infrastructure, Water and Technical Services at the City of Windhoek, Namibia. He is a registered Professional Engineer and holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, as well as a Master’s degree in Water and Wastewater Treatment.
As the Head of Department, Mr. van Rensburg’s responsibilities include overseeing the strategic planning and operations of all water and sewer related infrastructure for the City of Windhoek. Included among the city’s infrastructure projects: the world-renowned Goreangab Water Reclamation Plant, where the direct reclamation of potable water from treated sewage has been practiced since 1968.
After spending the first ten years of his career in the public utilities sector, Mr. van Rensburg began working in the private sector as a project development consultant, more specifically in the field of water and wastewater treatment.
Mr. van Rensburg joined the City of Windhoek in October 2014 in his current position.
Outside of his professional career, Mr. van Rensburg is a keen endurance sport enthusiast. He competes regularly in triathlons, trail running and mountain biking throughout the Southern African region.
