Oscar Edmundo has devoted his entire career to urban planning and transportation in areas such as road safety, urban planning, public transport and currently serves as Special Advisor to the Mayor of Bogota, Colombia.
He is an internationally recognized expert for his participation and contribution to innovative projects on five continents. He has managed projects implementing BRT systems (Bus Rapid Transit systems). He is an expert in planning and developing secure infrastructure for non-motorized transport (cycling and walking). This expertise in the areas of transportation complements with a solid financial expertise to structure projects in major urban areas.
It is widely recognized as an innovative professional. He implemented the idea of the first Car Free Day in Bogotá (February, 2000) and has developed guidelines for safe design of infrastructure for urban cyclists, a Traffic Calming Guide, and a Methodology to set maximum speeds in urban areas.
Oscar Edmundo Diaz holds has a Bachelor's degree in Finance and International Affairs from Universidad Externado de Colombia, in Bogotá, and a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Business Administration from Columbia University, in New York.
