Nonkululeko Nyembezi is the Chairperson of Standard Bank Group—which operates in more than 20 countries and is the largest lender in Africa by assets—and Standard Bank South Africa. She also serves as Chairperson of Business Leadership South Africa. She has previously served as Chairperson of JSE Limited, Alexander Forbes Group, and Macsteel Service Centres South Africa, as well as CEO of Ichor Coal and ArcelorMittal South Africa, the largest steel producer on the African continent. She holds a BSc Honours in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology, an MSc in Electrical Engineering from California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and an MBA from the Open University (UK).
