Matthieu Ballu works in the team in charge of defining and steering the EU’s renewable energy policy at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Energy. The EU adopted in December 2018 its new legislative framework for the promotion of renewable energy towards 2030.
Matthieu Ballu worked for the past 12 years on European energy and climate policies, both domestic and international. Prior to joining the European Commission he worked as a consultant for environmental organisations and businesses in the field of energy efficiency and for the French Government representation to the EU. He has a background in political science and international relations.
