Marta Blanco has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and an Executive MBA from EOI, Escuela de Organización Industrial. Blanco became a State Economist and Trade Expert in the Spanish Administration in March 1992.
Apart from different positions held at the Inter-American Investment Corporation and the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, Blanco has been Adviser to the Secretary of State for Commerce, Tourism and SMEs; Deputy Director for External Debt and Project Evaluation, and Division Director of Consumer Goods at the ICEX, Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade.
At the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, she was, consecutively, Deputy Director for Trade Policy of the European Union and Chief of Cabinet to the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade.
Blanco has also given International Economic Relations lectures at numerous Business Schools and Universities. Her last position was Chief of Cabinet to the Secretary of State for Trade, before being appointed as Director General of Turespaña on September 27, 2013.
