Ms. Ellingson has been the Director-General for the Office of Tourism, Arts and Culture (OTAC) since 2010. She is a former diplomat who served as Second Secretary at the PNG Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia in the early 1980s. Ms. Ellingson is a strong advocate for women’s empowerment through education, business, networking, technology and innovation, and is a supporter for the Women in Leadership in the PNG Public Service. She is interested in becoming a strong advocate for the participation of local communities in tourism development and conservation that effectively addresses cross-cutting issues such as gender equality and equity, young people, the disabled and a healthy environment. Ms Ellingson holds a BA in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Papua New Guinea, an MA in International Affairs, specialising in Development Studies from Ohio University, USA made possible through a Fulbright Scholarship award, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Management from Bristol University, UK.
