Maria Eugenia Oviedo is an Extended-Term Consultant with the Education Global Practice at the World Bank, where she supports global research and engagement initiatives on education, with a focus on early-grade literacy and strategies for learning recovery and acceleration. As part of the Curriculum, Instruction, and Learning Thematic Group, she helps develop tools and knowledge products on the science of reading, and coordinates knowledge-exchange initiatives to inform evidence-based action. Previously, as a researcher at the Inter-American Dialogue, she researched and wrote on secondary and post-secondary education and training in Latin America, and led regional advocacy campaigns to promote better policies in the region. Maria Eugenia has a BA in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University.
