Mathu Joyini currently serves as the Permanent Representative of South Africa to the United Nations in New York. Previously, she held senior positions at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, overseeing the Diplomatic Academy and the Mediation Support Unit. Before her government service starting in January 2001, Joyini gained extensive experience in the private sector across various industries including Mining, Finance, Petroleum, and Consulting since 1991. Within the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, she held roles such as Chief Director of Human Resources, Deputy Director-General of Human Resources, High Commissioner and Ambassador to six countries in the Caribbean, Permanent Representative of South Africa to the International Seabed Authority, and Deputy Director-General of Diplomatic Training and Mediation Support.
