Mr. K. V. Kamath is the former Chairman of ICICI Bank, India's largest private sector bank and of Infosys Limited, one of India's largest technology services companies. Mr. Kamath also served on the board of Schlumberger Limited. He stepped down from these positions to assume charge as President of the New Development Bank, Shanghai, founded by the BRICS nations. He was the former Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank (1996-2007) and he is credited with creating the first universal bank in India.
Mr. Kamath was conferred the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honors, in 2008. He has received widespread recognition internationally and in India, including being named CNBC’s Asian Business Leader of the Year in 2001, Businessman of the Year by Forbes Asia and Business Leader of the Year by The Economic Times, India in 2007. Mr. Kamath was the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the country's apex industry association, for the year 2008-09. He has been a Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos.
