Koichi Hasegawa became Senior Vice President responsible for partnerships with multilateral development banks and the International Monetary Fund at JICA as of October 1. Before this role, Mr. Hasegawa served as Executive Director for Japan at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) from July 2015.

 

Mr. Hasegawa started his career in Japan’s Ministry of Finance (MOF) in 1984. He held several director positions at MOF including Director of development issues in 2003-05 and Director of Development Institutions Division (responsible for matters related to MDBs) from 2005-06. He was seconded to the Inter-American Development Bank as a finance officer in 1986-1989, the WB as a country coordinator for Vietnam in 2001-03 and Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Director-General in charge of Europe in 2013-14. Before joining the ADB, he held the Director-General position at MOF’s Tokai Local Finance Bureau where he led the work on economic survey, public finance, and financial supervision and inspection in Nagoya area of Japan.

He holds Master’s degree in Law from Georgetown University (1989) and BA in Law from University of Tokyo, Japan (1984.)
