Jonathan Rothwell is the Principal Economist at Gallup, where he helps clients design and execute research to answer their questions and address societal challenges. Before joining Gallup in 2016, he was a Fellow at the Brookings Institution where he is currently a Nonresident Senior Fellow. His work specializes in labor economics, political economy, and urban economics and sociology. In addition to writing scholarly publications, he contributes to the New York Times column The Upshot. He is also the author of the 2019 book “A Republic of Equals: A Manifesto for a Just Society,” published by Princeton University Press. He holds a Ph.D. from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs.
