Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe is the Executive Chairperson of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), spearheading widespread reforms in the basic education sub-sector under the framework of Edo BEST (Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation). Dr. Oviawe is a gender and education specialist whose work experience in education, development and gender spans four continents. She is the Founder of the Africa Special Interest Group (ASIG) of the Comparative and International Education Society. ASIG is a vibrant research and practice network comprising of academics, practitioners, policy makers and graduate students in over 15 countries. Joan Osa Oviawe was recently appointed to the Working Group on global e-learning of the World Congress of Comparative Education Societies.
