Jacobus Cilliers is an Assistant Teaching Professor at McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. His research is in the area of applied micro-econometrics for development, with a focus on education. He is currently contributing to multiple field experiments across sub-Saharan Africa. Previous research investigated post-conflict reconciliation in Sierra Leone (published in Science), teacher performance pay in Uganda (published in Journal of Public Economics), teacher professional development in South Africa (published in Journal of Human Resources), and school accountability in Tanzania (published in Journal of Human Resources). Jacobus holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford.
