Mr. Israel Jáuregui Nares is a Mechanical-Electrical Engineer. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he also pursued postgraduate studies in Energy Engineering.
Mr. Jáuregui has an outstanding career in the field of energy savings. In the early stages of his professional journey, he worked for over 10 years at the National Commission for Energy Savings (CONAE), serving as Director of Forecasting and Project Development. Later, he held the position of Energy Manager at a private company, where he developed a successful energy efficiency program that earned him the National Energy Saving Award in both 2010 and 2012.
From 2013 to April 2023, Mr. Jáuregui served as Deputy Director General of Energy Efficiency Management at the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy (CONUEE). In this role, he oversaw programs aimed at State Productive Enterprises (Pemex and CFE), major energy users across the country, public and private buildings, and the transportation sector. In May 2023, he was appointed Director General of the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy. In parallel with his professional career, he has been a part-time professor at UNAM’s Faculty of Engineering for over 30 years, teaching in the Thermal Machines Laboratory.
