Indrani Sugathadasa serves as the chairperson of the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka, the regulatory institution for the insurance industry in the country.
Sugathadasa joined the Sri Lanka Administrative Service in 1977, and over her 35-year public service, she held various positions, including as director, National Youth Services Council; director, Women’s Bureau; permanent secretary, Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Empowerment; permanent secretary, Ministry of Plantation Industries; and chairperson, Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.
She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and MBA/MPA from Monash University, Australia. She was awarded the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship (Fulbright) by the United States in 1990.
