Helen Tarnoy co-led the arrangement of the original financing for Aldwych Intl., and its re-financing in February 2009. In the early days of Aldwych, Tarnoy led the acquisition of a stake in CEC, the private Zambian transmission business, where she became Deputy Chairman, and co-led the acquisition of the 600MW Kelvin power plant in Johannesburg. She also supported the development, financing and construction of the 90MW Rabai IPP in Kenya, which went into commercial operation in May 2010. Aldwych is the largest single shareholder in the 310MW Lake Turkana wind project, also in Kenya, which is currently in construction, as is the 450MW Azura-Edo gas-fired open-cycle power plant located in Edo State, Nigeria. Most recently, Aldwych and its partners closed the financing of the 192MW Amandi IPP in Ghana, one of the few project-financed transactions in sub-Saharan Africa to reach financial close in 2016.
