Dr. Hanan Morsy is the Deputy Executive Secretary (Programme) and Chief Economist at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. She has experience in economic and social development policy and program formulation with more than 20 years of on-the-ground analytical work in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia across the IMF, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the private sector. During her tenure as the Director of Macroeconomic Policy and Research at the African Development Bank, she coordinated policy-relevant analytical work on economic issues. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics (George Washington University), and a master’s in economics (University of California).
