Ferzina Banaji is the Communications Lead for Climate Change for the World Bank Group. In this role, she works to build greater understanding of the World Bank’s work on tackling the causes and impacts of climate change and the opportunities from low-carbon, climate-resilient development. Previously, she was the Director of Communications and Engagement for the New Climate Economy, based at World Resources Institute, in Washington, DC; and before that she led climate change communications for BBC Media Action, the BBC’s international charity arm, for South Asia and was based in New Delhi. Earlier in her career, she taught film and philosophy at Cambridge and wrote a book on how media can change conceptions of history, memory and identity – she is passionate about the role media can play in changing lives for the better. Ferzina has an MPhil and a PhD from the University of Cambridge and Bachelors’ degrees from the Universities of Paris and Mumbai.
