Sebastian Essl is an economist in the World Bank’s Global Macro and Debt Analytics team. The focus of his work is on debt sustainability and fiscal risks, on which he is also supporting client countries. He has additionally been involved in work and technical assistance on public debt management, including medium-term debt management strategies, debt transparency, and debt management performance assessments in Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South-East Asia. Sebastian holds degrees in economics from Vienna University and Columbia University in the city of New York.
