Edson Hurtado is a journalist, writer, poet, and activist. He was born in Vallegrande, Bolivia, in 1980. Mr. Hurtado is author of two books of poems (2007-2008). In 2010, thanks to the support of the Simon I. Patiño Cultural Center of Santa Cruz, he published a biographical research “I will not love again. The history of the Taitas from Beni”. “Being Gay in Times of Evo Morales” (AYNI, 2011) is the first book of Bolivian literature dealing with the topic of sexual diversity in depth, in which Hurtado provided an overview of the history of LGBTI community in the country. In 2015, Mr. Hurtado presented a research entitled “Madonna of Sorata. Chronicles about gay Indians in Bolivia”, an approach to the world view on sexual diversity in seven native villages of the Plurinational State of Bolivia (Ayoreos, Afrobolivians, Aymaras, Guaraníes, Moxeños, Tacanas and Quechuas).
