Mr. Mete was appointed Minister of Finance and Economy as of September 2023. After the structural changes that the Ministry underwent in January 2024, Mr. Mete now serves as Minister of Finance. Since May 2020, he has held the position of General Executive Director of the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA), and previously since September 2019, served as the Board Chairman of AFSA. He previously served as Deputy Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister of Economy in the Albanian Government (2013 – 2017), responsible for fiscal policy and economic development. Mr. Mete holds Master’s degrees from Harvard University and the London School of Economics (LSE), specializing in Tax and Corporate Law.
