Ceri Lawley is IFC’s Chief Compliance Officer leading IFC’s Business Risk and Compliance Department (CBR). Ceri oversees the establishment of compliance standards and provision of advice to business teams, operational support teams, Management and the Board in two broad areas – 1. Risk in Business Transactions - integrity due diligence, AML/CFT, economic sanctions and international tax issues, and 2. IFC’s Corporate Risk - regulatory risk e.g., on mobilizations and new products, operational conflicts of interest, information and data access, and data privacy.
Ceri joined the World Bank Group in 2008 where she was a member of the Legal Finance Team advising IBRD Treasury, in particular the World Bank Group Pension Plan, on regulatory, legal, compliance and tax risks. Ceri’s prior experience also includes working as a partner in a major Australian law firm advising corporate and commercial sponsors, pension plans and fiduciaries.
Ceri holds a degree from the University of Oxford, UK and law degrees from the University of Cambridge, UK and Georgetown University in Washington DC, USA.
