Associate Professor Anjeela Jokhan has been the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment at the University of the South Pacific since 2010. Her professional career spans over 27 years, in which she has held various administrative and academic positions such as Dean, Associate Dean, and Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Biology. Her research interest lies in the area of Plant Physiology, eLearning, mLearning and institutional research. Dr Jokhan is an active researcher and has published over 46 journal articles, books, book chapters and conference papers. Over 12 MSc and PhD students have successfully graduated under her supervision and is currently supervising 9MSc and PhD students.
Dr Jokhan has held leadership positions in many institutional initiatives. She has been a member of the University’s senior management team for over nine years and has been the key driver of several changes in the area of learning, teaching and policy development for the University as it undergoes significant transformation. She was recognized for her contribution in the development and implementation of timetabling software at USP and was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Innovation in 2013. In 2016 she was a member of the team that received the Vice Chancellor Prize for Innovation for the development and successful implementation of the Online Mathematics Diagnostic Test (OMDT). Dr. Jokhan has been involved very closely with the University’s IT system, having had oversight of the University’s IT services for over 18 months. Her senior leadership also includes acting as the Vice President if USP for 12 months.
Not only has Dr Jokhan been an influential academic leader but has also contributed significantly as a societal leader. She has served as a member of a number of Boards in Fiji including The Rewa Diary Board of Directors, Fiji School of Medicine Academic Board, Fiji Institute of Technology Council, etc. Currently she is one of the Directors of Investment Fiji. Through her role as the Dean of the Faculty and other leading positions in the course of her career, she has contributed immensely towards advancing education in the region.
