Alejandro J. (Alex) Palacios serves as director for North America, the Private Sector and Foundations at the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). GPE, hosted by the World Bank, is the only multilateral partnership exclusively devoted to ensuring that all children in the world’s poorest countries receive a quality basic education. Alex joined the Global Partnership’s secretariat in July 2013.
Prior to joining GPE, Alex served as Director of External Relations, in the secretariat of GAVI, the vaccine alliance, a Geneva based international organization dedicated to saving children’s lives and protecting people’s health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower income countries.
Alex also previously worked as a long-time senior staff member of the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, and its US affiliate, the US Fund for UNICEF, both in New York and Washington, DC, where he served for seven years as director of the US Fund’s Washington Office. Alex is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the Federal District Court Bar for the District of Columbia.
