Alessandra Guedes is currently the Regional Advisor for Family Violence at the WHO Regional Office for the Americas / Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Washington, DC where she oversees the organization’s work in the areas of violence against children and violence against women. She has worked in the area of violence against women since 1999 and is particularly interested in the intersections between violence against women and violence against children. She was vice-president of the board of Promundo for several years (Brazil) and is currently the co-chair of the Coordinating Group of the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (South Africa). Alessandra holds an MSc degree in Public Health for Developing Countries from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK and an MA degree in Art Therapy from the George Washington University, USA.
