Shinzo Abe is the current Prime Minister of Japan, re-elected to the position in December 2012. He is also the President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and previously served for a year as Prime Minister, from 2006 to 2007.
Shinzo Abe graduated from the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Law, of Seikei University in 1977. In 1982 he was the Executive Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was elected as Member of the House of Representatives in 1993 and thereafter reelected seven consecutive times. He served as Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary from 2000 until 2002 and then as Chief Cabinet Secretary in 2005.
