Nicholas Bian currently works as a Knowledge and Learning Analyst in the Europe & Central Asia (ECA) region and is part of the Junior Professional Associate program at the World Bank Group. Mr. Bian supports operations through training, learning activities, and portfolio monitoring in the Development Effectiveness (Quality) unit. He utilizes his corruption prevention and public sector integrity expertise by supporting ongoing projects in Moldova and Azerbaijan. Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Bian worked as a junior policy analyst at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) supporting government reforms to strengthen corruption prevention mechanisms in the public sector. In this capacity, he was a contributing author on several publications on lobbying reform, whistleblower protection and conflicts of interest, as well as serving as a speechwriter for senior officials. He also coordinated several knowledge-sharing activities to promote so-called integrity frameworks in client countries. Mr. Bian began his career working in the U.S. House of Representatives and subsequently for a boutique trade association lobbying on behalf of the biomass industry.
Mr. Bian holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs specializing in Governance and Public Policy from the American University in Paris, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Westmont College.
