Martín Abregú

Vice President, Democracy, Rights and Justice, Ford Foundation

Martín Abregú is vice president of the foundation’s Democracy, Rights and Justice program. He leads the foundation’s global grant making on human and civil rights, effective and transparent governance, democratic participation, strengthening civil society and gender, sexuality and reproductive justice. He also oversees the foundation’s regional programming in Brazil, Mexico and Central America, and the Andean Region and Southern Cone.

Before joining the foundation, Martín served for six years as executive director of the Center for Legal and Social Studies (CELS), a leading human rights organization based in Argentina. Simultaneously he served as the Argentina representative for the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL), an inter- American human rights body that works across the hemisphere.
