Ewen MacLeod is currently the Deputy Director for the Division of Resilience and Solutions at UNHCR. In this role, MacLeod oversees work exploring new approaches to addressing the refugee crisis and the problems refugees face in terms of political, economic and social exclusion. A particular focus of his work is improving UNHCR’s capacity to develop the data and analytics required for evidence based policy and developing new partnerships to broaden international and national engagement with the forced displacement agenda. MacLeod was previously an Advisor to the High Commissioner at the UNHCR. He has worked for the UN and the European Commission, holding headquarters and field-based positions. During the course of a 30-year career he has worked on many complex humanitarian crises and protracted refugee situations in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
