I understand from past IMF discussions that a digital recovery can lead to economic growth. For example, e-filing can lead to an increase in tax collection. Hence, more investment in digital infrastructure is needed. As a parent, I think that countries that put in more effort in this regard should be rewarded somehow to inspire others to do the same. It should not always be punitive actions such as carbon taxes.

Similar to the what Combodia is doing, the Indian government had initiated the DBT - Direct Benefit Transfer programme in 2014 andd linked it to the bank accounts of the people. It has really worked well over the years and was very useful during the COVID pandemic lockdown period.
