Developing countries need to be more transparent about borrowed funds. With rampant corruption across the board most of the funds borrowed arent benefitting the intended user making them non-productive. Taxpayers are the ones who suffer by being overtaxed inorder to service those debts.What can lending organisations do to protect the ordinary citizens from governments that borrow and do not account for every cent?

I think it is important for the World Bank to come up with comprehensive relief packages for LICs on debts to relief them from accruing interest on the existing debts.

It’s worth thinking about what it means to have a contract that is not strictly enforceable because the borrower is immune, but on the other hand will never go away because there is no bankruptcy process for sovereign debt, says Anna Gelpern of Georgetown Law. As a result, both debtors and creditors are drawn into an endless back-and-forth, with no process to short-circuit that to stop.
