Corporate Debt in Developing Countries: Preparing for the Worst and Hoping for the Best
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted activity of many companies including those with otherwise healthy businesses. The disruption has affected their ability to service their debts, with growing potential for a wave of credit defaults, insolvencies, bankruptcies and layoffs as the crisis wears on. This World Bank Group's series of public events is intended to improve understanding and explore solutions for heading off this rising threat to economic recovery. We are bringing together public and private sector stakeholders to discuss the state and outlook of firms’ financial health in developing countries and the regulatory regimes affecting the restructuring of private-sector debt for businesses.
