While new models are welcomed and traditional economic solutions such as prioritizing women participation in trade are still relevant, there are equally new and emerging challenges that undermine and provoke women participation in trade. These challenges are equally still relevant and are pushing women, especially women operating at the fringes of cross border trade- on the sidelines and worsening their economic situations and their possibilities of fully contributing as members of society. For example, women in poor/low income countries are yet to graduate from subsistence, miniature trade operations; and are often exploited because they do not understand tariff laws, cross border regulations, taxes, etc. these, and several others are disproportionally affecting women and requires attention.
