Experiences from many humanitarian emergencies point to girls experiencing many barriers to access temporary learning programs, and schools once they are set-up or re-opened. In this pandemic, numerous organizations and agencies have pointed out that girls are at great risk of being marginalized from remedial education measures adopted by many governments. We know that girls are more likely to be expected to do house chores, take care of elderly family members or siblings, and many other activities that will greatly affect their ability to follow distance/online learning programs. What targeted, gender-sensitive responses are you advancing to address this? How should governments specifically monitor the learning deficit among girls as a result of this unprecedented disruption? What are you doing to ensure pre-covid19 policy barriers that disproportionately impact girls (for example, bans in place against pregnant girls, teenage mothers; policies that isolate children with disabilities) are removed?

Do we need to cover all the learning areas prescribed in the curriculum during this pandemic? Do we need to consider opening the school year probably on December to ensure that learners are physically, mentally and emotionally ready like those children with parents died because of covid19?
