Comment 1:1. Almost a tenth of the global population lives on less than $1.90 per day2. About a quarter (1.8 billion) of the global population lives below the $3.20 poverty line3. Almost half (3.3 billion) live below the $5.50 line4. 1% of the world own 44% of its wealthQuestion: What is the WB's role in addressing structural inequality, as an impediment to eradicating poverty, and how can it do this?Comment 2:Taking note of the other questions so far, there is a need to create jobs and upskill, including for the newly unemployed, and to support SMEs to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 as the current driver of exacerbated poverty levels. More generally, there is need to invest in sustainable livelihoods, innovations and technologies that minimise environmental and social transgressions and injustices, and promote resilience to climate change as an ongoing catalyst of global challenges, including poverty. Restructuring debt repayments provides an opportunity to reshape policies in response to COVID, reform tax policies and to consolidate climate change measures. Short and long-term approaches are needed
