Today kicks off a week of events that will take place during this year’s Annual Meetings. This year marks the first time that the World Bank and IMF have ever hosted a fully virtual Annual Meetings program. The theme of the week is “Supporting a #ResilientRecovery,” and we’ll hear from a diverse range of voices—from government officials to business leaders, civil society representatives to young activists—who will discuss the path ahead for developing countries.

While we wait for the event to begin, learn more about the Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI), which will be a key topic of today’s discussion. As of mid-September, the DSSI had allowed 43 of 73 eligible countries to suspend payments owed to official creditors, totaling an estimated $5 billion in debt-service suspension.
