In the extreme South of Madagascar, the population is currently facing drought and severe deprivation of basic human needs, a situation that has probably been aggravated by the pandemic. Delivering medical and health care in this region has always been a challenge even in normal times because of a lack of effective state control over sections of territory, the growth of criminal violence and flawed institutions (cf. documentary entitled “Madagascar: silence on meurt”, ARTE TV, April 2021). Do you have practical recommendations for policy makers to consider so that the 1.5 million people of this region have access to the Covid vaccines?
