My question is the possibility of deploying technology by way of social media to bridge the gap between farmers who most times produce plenty which most times end up wasting as is being reported and the final consumers who do not have access to fresh and quality food?

The difference in how food is harvested, preserved and marketed in developing countries is glaringly different from that of developed countries. Statistics from www.fao.org shows that about 40% food waste in developing countries occurs post harvest and during processing levels while for developed countries this occurs at retail and consumer level. We know that these losses in sub-saharan countries occurs due to inefficient means of preservation mostly due to lack of a robust refrigeration system for low shelf life food, especially perishables like vegetables. What solutions or partnerships does the world bank have in place or in the pipeline to shore up food preservation post harvesting?
