The MIGA Gender CEO Award recognizes leaders with a record for creating opportunities for women and promoting their advancement or promoting gender equality while contributing to the World Bank Group’s twin goals of reducing poverty and boosting shared prosperity.

This year’s theme is “Women Driving Growth in Africa” in honor of the 2020 awardee, Ms. Aïssata S. Béavogui, Director General, Guinea Alumina Corporation. Ms. Béavogui oversees the implementation and strategy for sustainable development in the largest greenfield investment in Guinea, providing a leading example of how the mining industry should operate throughout the region. She is the first woman to hold the position of Director General in an international company in Guinea.
