While political transitions are underway across much of the Arab world, the struggle to find a decent job has not gotten any easier.
Large segments of the population continue to face a range of social and economic obstacles. These obstacles have contributed to the world’s highest rate of youth unemployment and the fewest women in the labor force. Overcoming them is one the region’s greatest challenges.
To address the “what,” “why,” and “how” of jobs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the World Bank hosted a live online Q&A with Steen Jorgensen, Director of MENA Human Development and Yasser El-Gammal, Manager of MENA Human Development. They invited you to a conversation on what you think is the most important aspect of the jobs situation in MENA, why is it so difficult, and how more jobs can be created for the many rather than the few.

I think that the economic relief of the Arab world is a long term goal , it is unlikely to occur unless the sources of revenue are diversified. Only then unemployment could be significantly and sustainably reduced by a better coordination between education and the labor market.

UN reports argue that the unemployment problem is not offer-led (mismatch between skills provided by university and private sector requirements) but rather demand-led (wages, and lack of internal training in companies). What should be the priority measures taken then?

Before addressing this issue related to "job creation" we should dig more "upstream" and ask:"why education is of bad quality"?because it is the cause of the "skills mismatch" in my opinion.
