From Poverty to Prosperity - Webcast

Though millions of people have moved out of extreme poverty since 2000, prosperity for people at the lower end of the income spectrum remains elusive and, in many countries, inequality has been rising.

The WBG has added to its poverty fighting mission the goal of promoting shared prosperity by focusing on the income growth of the bottom 40 percent. This panel will discuss strategic and policy questions related to shared prosperity.

Globally, what is the role of globalization in shaping a country’s progress towards shared prosperity and how can international cooperation help? Nationally is there a next wave of national economic and social policies that can promote shared prosperity in individual countries?
