Mariana Costa is the co-founder of Laboratoria, a tech social enterprise that empowers young women from low-income backgrounds giving them access to education and work in the digital sector. In 2015 Laboratoria is training 130 young women across Peru, Mexico and Chile as web developers, securing jobs for 60% of them and doubling their income. Over the next three years the goal is to train 1,000 such women, giving them the tools to begin a career and build a better future for themselves and their families.

Before becoming a social entrepreneur Mariana worked for organizations such as TechnoServe and the Organization of American States on social development projects in El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Peru and Kenya. She is a firm believer in the idea that social entrepreneurship is the way to bring together the best of two worlds. Mariana is originally from Peru and holds a BSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Masters Degree in Public Administration from Columbia University in New York.
