H.E. John Kufuor

Chair, Sanitation and Water for All partnership

His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor is former President of Ghana (2001-2009) and former Chairperson of the African Union (2007–2008). President Kufuor is a global advocate for leadership, governance and development and widely regarded for his African and international statesmanship. His contributions have been recognized through several awards, and in 2011, His Excellency J.A. Kufuor was named joint winner of the World Food Prize for Food and Agriculture with former Brazilian President Lula da Silva.
In addition to chairing Sanitation and Water for All, His Excellency J.A. Kufuor is currently a Global Ambassador against Hunger for the UN World Food Programme; Chairman of the UN Inter-peace Programme; Global Envoy for the Neglected Tropical Diseases Alliance; Lead Advocate for the Partnership for Child Development. In June 2013, President Kufuor was appointed the Co-Chair of the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition. In December 2013, he was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to be a Special Envoy on Climate Change.
His Excellency J. A. Kufuor chaired the second SWA High Level Meeting (HLM) at the World Bank in Washington, DC, April 2012 and will chair the third SWA HLM in April 2014.
