Donald Kaberuka

Co-Chair, LSE-Oxford Commission on State Fragility, Growth and Development

Kaberuka has a distinguished career in banking, international trade and development, and government service. He currently serves as High Representative for the African Union Peace Fund, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Rockefeller Foundation among others. Kaberuka was President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) from 2005 to 2015, where he presided over a strategic redirection for development and poverty reduction in Africa, emphasizing the private sector, infrastructure and regional integration. A national of Rwanda, he was Minister of Finance and Economic Planning from 1997 to2005, and oversaw Rwanda’s successful economic reconstruction after the end of the civil war. He holds a PhD in Economics from Glasgow University.
