Over the past decade almost 50 million people have joined the ranks of Latin America’s middle class –an increase of 50% - thanks to solid economic growth and employment across the region.

But global economic instability could jeopardize these gains unless public policies are put in place to protect them, guaranteeing better access to education, social security and employment -the pillars of a healthy middle class.
