Dr. Laila Iskandar is the Chairperson of CID Consulting (Community and International Development Group), which was awarded the "Social Entrepreneur of the Year" award in 2006 at the World Economic Forum by the Schwab Foundation.  She has served as jury to UNESCO’s International Literacy Prize, Resource Person for the Arab region since 2005 on the United Nations Literacy Decade - UNLD - and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Decade, CIDA’s Education Advisor, Policy Advisor at the Girls Improved Learning Outcomes (GILO) program, a USAID-Funded Education project assisting the Ministry of Education (MoE) improve learning outcomes in KG–9 schools.  Under Dr. Iskandar’s leadership, her teams have received awards for community based projects for women, youths and children encompassing learning and earning approaches.

She studied economics, political science at Cairo University, Near Eastern studies and international education development at UC Berkeley, California and Columbia University, N.Y.
